Abstract: | The DASH is the most important and most widely used measurement instrument for self-rated outcome of the upper extremity, that is, the shoulder, elbow, and hand, that is, wrist and finger joints (Kennedy et al. 2011; Angst et al. 2011). It is available in 55 languages and dialects; further 19 translations are in progress. This entry summarizes the psychometric properties of the DASH and its short form, the QuickDASH focusing on validity (Kennedy et al. 2011; Kennedy et al. 2013). The following summary of characteristics of the DASH and the QuickDASH is the result of a systematic review about the psychometric properties. Literature was systematically reviewed by a standardized search algorithm in the PubMed, published up to 27.12.2019, textbooks and manuals. Data of totally more than n = 400 reviews and single testing studies were summarized and condensed into comparative tables. Data of n = 140 comparative scales of standardized instruments were compared to the total scores of the DASH and QuickDASH. For conciseness, most single studies are not referenced. |
